Introduction
Nomad is a specialty mobile network operator
and technology provider. Nomad's main focus is on the public transportation
sector and in particular on passenger trains. The low-cost, focussed, data
networks that Nomad builds enable public transportation agencies to offer
enhanced services to passengers and to reduce their own operating costs through
improved data communications with staff and vehicles. Nomad can provide a range
of products and services ranging from design expertise and specialist products
through to fully managed solutions.
To date Nomad has successfully
provided networks to the Southern Railway (London to Brighton, UK) and to the
Heathrow Express (UK). In Korea, Nomad has supplied equipment to Rotem, Korea's
largest train builder and infrastructure contractor for use on its Maglev train
where the main application is remote live monitoring of CCTV from the train.
Nomad is also financing and building networks for operators such as Virgin
Train's West Coast Mainline (UK) and Gatwick Express (UK). Nomad has
successfully completed, or is conducting, trials in the USA, China, Holland,
the UK and Sweden.
Because Nomad's networks are focussed on the specific geography and requirements of a public transportation agency they can provide higher data speeds and better coverage than the multi-purpose public networks provided by general cellular mobile network operators. Nomad is also able to rapidly exploit the lower costs and higher performance offered by the latest wireless technologies, such as WiMAX. Nomad has developed its own technology, proven products (with applicable railway approvals) and services to provide ubiquitous data service along railway lines including locations where 3G networks do not or cannot reach such as deep cuttings and tunnels.
Our Board of Directors has general responsibility for the overall management of Nomad. The Board of Directors consists of a chairman and four additional members. Our Management Team are responsible for the executive management of the business.
