Data Management
To manage this myriad of requirements, Nomad has developed its FM Application Suite that delivers customised solutions which integrate tightly into the customers' existing applications and environment. The FM Application Suite enables Nomad to build tailored solutions from a set of core components that will be customised and integrated with the customers' existing systems.
Nomad itself has used the FM Application Suite to develop a number of applications (e.g. FM Monitor - see below) that are used internally to support our customers. Some of these are available as off the shelf products.
The FM Application Suite consists of the following solution groups:
- FM Stream. FM Stream type applications focus on secure transmission of data from the vehicle to a 3rd party application for further processing. FM Stream applications do not process the data. FM Stream solutions include:
- OTMR download
- CCTV streaming, both archive and live
- eticketing
- Staff information.
- FM Serve. FM Serve type applications will typically capture data from the train, perform data processing and augmentation and then make the data available for interrogation /presentation by 3rd party applications. FM Serve solutions include:
- Capture of train telemetry data for use by 3rd party monitoring tools where a customer wishes to feed device status into their own O&M application.
- Amalgamation of train operational data from various sources with vehicle location data (GPS) to form a consolidated database which can be interrogated by operational analysis tools.
- Driver and journey data
- FM View. FM View type applications will typically capture data from the vehicle, process and analysis the data before presenting views of the data to the end users. These views could be real time or historical. Nomad has developed a number of FM View applications for its own use but which could be used by customers, including:
- FM Monitor which presents users with information about on-vehicle device status, network availability from a vehicle etc. This is utilised by the Nomad O&M team.
- FM Fleet Locator which brings together GPS data with Google Maps such that the vehicle location can be tracked.
Whether the customer requires a FM Stream, FM Serve or FM View type application will become clear once we have understood the customers' requirements. Critically, the FM Application Suite gives us the ability to provide a tailored response to any customer requirement.
