Passenger
In today’s competitive environment, transport operators are continually striving to improve their customer’s experience in order to retain existing passengers and to entice new passengers onto their services. Passengers travelling on rail services are often faced with ‘dead time’ where they are unconnected and therefore either unable to work, or entertain themselves. Business travellers especially need to be “always on” to make best use of their time. Nomad has significant experience at delivering solutions that enhance the customer service and can deliver increased revenue to the operator.
Passenger WiFi
Nomad’s provides a rapid, responsive WiFi solution to transport operators across the world. Through a combination of WiMAX, HSDPA, mobile cellular, CDMA-EVDO and satellite, Nomad is able to switch between the best available networks at rapid speeds and so give passengers a high-speed, seamless WiFi experience. In addition, Nomad offers an aggregated cellular solution to deliver greater bandwidth to many passengers. The combination of switching and aggregated networks ensures that a high speed connection is always maintained. Our solutions are network agnostic and will typically use public networks where available however Nomad has the ability to build private, proprietary networks where public network coverage is inadequate.

Passenger Information
Nomad has designed a system where using our geo-fencing and fleet management applications, train information can be compared with scheduled timetables to allow an accurate picture showing where and when delays have been introduced into a passenger service. This information can be transmitted on-board vehicles and at stations to deliver passengers with real-time journey updates, and placed on either WiFi portal pages or on digital signage systems.

Infotainment
On lengthy journeys passengers can spend long hours with presently very little to occupy their interest. Nomad has developed a system where passenger can buy-to-watch movies, television shows or any other form of media by streaming either from an on-board media server or from media feeds on the internet. The media server is able to be accessed remotely to upload content and manage the on-board data. Passengers can download content either from a pre-made portal direct to their laptops, or through LCD screens installed into coaches.

Passenger Portal
In addition to WiFi services or Infotainment, operators need a good information base to promote those services to passengers. In conjunction with operators, Nomad has developed bespoke Passenger Portal’s to present to passengers as much or little information as needed. These portals can be cached on the CCU’s, and connect to both on-board servers and shore based systems, including Media Content, Real-Time Passenger Information Systems and agreed advertising connected to the world wide web.
